Introduced in 2019, the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP) program of Canada was launched for immigration to New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland & Labrador. Foreign high-skilled and semi-skilled workers along with international graduates of rural and northern communities can benefit from rnip program of Canada. The communities of British Columbia, Alberta Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario are also part of rnip program of Canada.
Moreover, there are as many as 11 communities that can participate in the pilot. Thus, here is the rnip community list:
- Vernon and West Kootenay in British Columbia
- Claresholm, Alberta
- Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan
- Brandon and Rhineland in Manitoba
- North Bay, Ontario
- Sudbury, Ontario
- Timmins, Ontario
- Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario
- Thunder Bay, Ontario
Communities’ requirements to participate
In order to participate, rnip communities have the following eligibility requirement.
- The community must be within 75 km from Census Metropolitan Area with a maximum population of 50,000 or it should be in a remote area with up to 200000 population
- You must certainly check the rnip provinces that are eligible. Participants should be present in either of the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba or Ontario
- Must have a plan for economic development and job vacancies
- Should have a local committee for managing the pilot
- Must be able to provide settlement services to new immigrations and have a good relationship with immigration organizations
- Create healthy communication between immigrants and existing community members
- Lastly, they must give amenities like housing, education, health care, and transportation
Immigrant’s requirements to participate in RNIP Program
Immigrants must comply with the federal and community level requirements in order to immigrate through the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot program. Following are the requirements.
- A designated communities’ recommendation
- Must have a minimum of 1560 hours of full-time, non-continuous or part-time work experience in the last 3 years
- Valid job offers from a designated employer of the community
- Should have completed a 2-year study program in the last 18 months
- Must be residing in the community for a minimum of 16 months during the 2 years study program
- Have financial resources to support the family and must be willing to live in the community
RNIP Processing time
RNIP processing time depends on the selected community plus IRCC in order to get PR status with the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot program.
