What is Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) Canada?
PGWP Canada or Post Graduate Work Permit Canada is an easy open work permit that can be applied by students graduating from DLI. Since this is an open work permit, students do not need to obtain Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). It is indeed one of the fastest and most credible ways to obtain a work permit.
Eligibility of the Post Graduate Work Permit Canada
There are certain criteria that a candidate must meet before proceeding any further. To apply for PGWP, you must:
  • Be above 18 years old and must complete the selected full-time course that has a duration of at least 8 months
  • Submit the application within 180 days of graduation
  • Hold an authorized temporary residence status in Canada that can verify the candidate’s details
When applying, you must have a valid status. As a result, you must apply for the temporary residence status before applying. Besides, a valid study permit will also work.

Requirements for the PGWP

One of the main requirements in PGWP in Canada is that the students need to graduate certainly from Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs). Students can be eligible for a PGWP if the current study program qualifies the following:
  • Graduation from a trade/technical university or post-secondary school/college
  • Belong to a private school with the same requirements as a public school
  • Must belong to a private institution that can legally issue degrees
  • Belong to a post-secondary or private institution in Quebec that offers 900 hours or longer study programs. It must also lead to diplome d’ etudes professionals (DEP) or attestation de specialization professionally (ASP).
The validity of the PGWP is entirely dependent on the study program duration. You must also need to keep a track of your passport expiry date. In case, your passport has expired, you cannot be eligible for the PGWP. Please note that no distance learning programmes aren’t eligible for Post Graduate Work Permit Canada.
