Permanent Residents who are interested to make visitations Canada without a PR Card can apply for Permanent Resident Travel Document (PRTD) to enter. The document has similar functionalities as a PR card that can be applied at IRCC.
Eligibility for Temporary Travel Document
A PRTD can be applied by an individual who does not have a PR Card and is applying from outside Canada. Travel is allowed only by commercial vehicles.
Requirement of Temporary Travel Document
- A PRTD can only be issued after the visa officer verifies and approves the Permanent Residency Obligations.
- A person has to stay in Canada for at least 730 days in a total period of 5 years to qualify for the residency obligations.
- PRTD is issued for return to Canada after you have met all residency obligations.
- People who fail to fulfil the obligations are subject to revoking the PR status.
