A non-citizen or foreign national can stay in Canada for a maximum period of 6 months at a time with a Visitor Visa. People with both single or multiple entry visas must apply for the Visitor Visa Extension if they wish to stay for more than 6 months.
Eligibility for Visitor Visa Extension
Individuals willing to apply for a visitor record must change their status from worker or student to visitor. In addition to that, the application for the visitor record must be submitted at least 30 days prior to the expiry date of the visitor visa.
Requirements for Visitor Visa Extension
The visa extension is valid for foreign nationals who are staying in Canada as a visitor or hold a study or work permit. Only foreign nationals with valid status in Canada can apply for the Visitor Visa extension.
