Canada Immigration Levels Plan
The Canada Immigration Level Plans for 2020-2022 was announced by the Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
With the majority of an ageing population and declining birth rates, the Immigration Levels Plan is aimed at improving the economic condition of the country. The government encourages immigration to join the labour force from the world.
Canada welcomed 341,000 new permanent residents in 2020 and has plans for 351,000 in 2021 and 361,000 in 2022.
Other exciting programs like the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSWP), Quebec Experience Program (PEQ), Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP) and Rural and Northern Pilot Program are aimed at bringing in more economic migrants.
Almost 50% of all international graduates and 35% of all IT employment are Economic Immigrants.
PNP program’s range from 67,800 in 2020 is supposed to go up to 73,000 in 2022 while the Family Class Sponsorship is believed to keep the high range projection. It is expected to increase to 98,000 in 2022 from 96,000 in 2020.
Lastly, the number of Refugees and Protected persons class is supposed to go higher too.
The limit of 49,700 refugees in 2020 will increase to 52,950 by 2022.
Canada will continue to be considered as a leading country for refugee and protection services for foreign nationals.
